Joe Wicks HIIT’s FSL!

Friends’ School Lisburn welcomed TV star and author Joe Wicks, better known as The Body Coach as he brought his HIIT tour to schools in Northern Ireland on Friday 31 May.

The 32-year-old fitness fanatic became a star with his diet and exercise regime and popular YouTube videos demonstrating high-intensity interval training (HIIT) circuits. He then went on to become a best-selling author with his Body Coach books and his own series on Channel 4.

From over 4000 schools who applied, Friends’ School Lisburn was the only post-primary school selected to take part with over 600 Year 8-11 and Prep pupils enjoying the fun! Head of PE, Ivor Monaghan commented “it was a fantastic opportunity not only for the pupils to be part of his tour but also to showcase our school and wonderful facilities to Joe and his team. Commitment to the well-being of our pupils is a very important aspect of school life which Joe recognised.”

He finished his visit to Friends’ with a short stop to the Prep Departmentt where Mrs Monteith and the Primary One class gave him a tour of their vegetable garden. Kindgarden Cook, Sharon McMaster, along with pupils Isaac Monaghan and cousins Jack and Archie Niblock, were on hand to tell Joe how they grow their vegetables and serve to the class every day.

The staff and pupils thanked Joe for his visit with some gifts and even some home-grown herbs for his garden!
