James Nicholson Flying the Flag for Northern Ireland
Online World Taekwondo Championships 2020
Friends’ pupil James Nicholson will be representing Northern Ireland in the inaugural Online World Taekwondo Championships 2020 event with over 1500 athletes from more than 90 countries.
With the World Championships to be held in May in Denmark cancelled due to the present Pandemic , the president of World Taekwondo decided to organise and host the championships virtually from Korea ,which is rapidly becoming the norm for a number of sports. His vision was to help athletes stay healthy and stay positive in the face of adversity.
The competition will be held over 3 weeks with athletes judged via video by a panel of 7 international judges from around the world. James will start with 173 players in his category with some of the best players in the world from the host country Korea. It will be the toughest competition James has ever competed in however what an amazing experience and honour to represent your country on the world stage in such a historical event!
