Maths Week at FSL
Maths Week took place from the 17th - 21st October and we had a number of events taking place in school to mark the occasion.
Throughout the week, Year 8 pupils followed a ‘Maths Trail’ of the school, searching for hidden numbers in order to complete the challenge. OnTuesday we held our annual Countdown Competition as six finalists from each of the Year 8 Collects battled it out to be crowned Countdown Champion. An animated crowd of pupils watched on as Alex Martin (8C) came out on top. Whilst that was taking place, the Year 9 Team Challenge was also underway just a few rooms down the corridor. Five teams attempted to answer a number of challenging mathematical problems with the team from 9B finishing in first place. This year, we also held our first Senior Team Challenge with pupils from Year 13 and14 battling it out to win points for their house. It wasn’t just Maths classes getting involved though as pupils and staff across the school tried to solve our Collect Quiz. An eventful week eventuallycame to an end but it was encouraging to see so many pupils enjoy getting involved in maths outside the classroom.
